QR code readers offer the possibility of tagging elements or assets of a company, enabling their effective management. These assets will depend on the type of company we are targeting

For example, for a street furniture maintenance company, its assets will include benches, lampposts, garbage cans …. that thanks to QR codes, can be inventoried and managed correctly. For an IT company, those assets will include PCs, software, laptops… IT asset management will be dedicated to the maintenance of different hardware or software.

What is IT Asset Management?

IT Asset Management is a computerized inventory that collects information about software, hardware and IT assets contained in a company, as well as any physical piece of property owned by the company itself.

Effective asset management helps companies manage internal processes more efficiently, reducing unnecessary costs and optimizing their own resources.

QRTonic

QRTonic: an effective tool for IT asset management

ServiceTonic optimizes the management of your company’s IT assets through its QRTonic tool: a powerful and effective application that allows you to maintain the inventory of your IT assets through QR codes.

Its operating is simple: it consists of printing a sticker with a QR code, along with a short description, which will be attached to the assets or devices that the manager wants to manage. The label can be printed from a portable printer, allowing the agent to travel to the location of the asset and instantly print the label and link it to the device in question.

Once the asset has that label, any user, through a generic QR code reader installed on their cell phone or from ServiceTonic’s own scanner available in its version for smartphones, can scan it and consult the device information. You can even open the ticket on site to report an incident or make a request. The ticket is immediately forwarded to the IT manager and can then be resolved.

This solution is suitable for any company that wants to simplify the management of its IT assets.

For example, all computers, laptops, and cell phones that the company provides to its employees can be tagged, or all printers that a service provider offers to its end customers can be referenced via QR codes to improve technical and customer service. An infinite number of solutions.

QRCode

Your users can help you maintain your IT assets

Your own users can help you manage your IT assets by scanning QR codes. Thanks to the tags that the system administrator has generated and attached to the IT assets, users can scan the QR code and instantly open the ticket or report an incident. This ticket will have been previously configured by the system administrator, detailing the necessary information to be collected on that asset.

QRTonic through an agent

The management of your company’s IT assets can also be performed by a field agent from your own company.

This can be done either through any QR code scanner, although you must then register in the ServiceTonic application to act as an agent, or by scanning the QR with the scanner included in the mobile version of the ServiceTonic application, selecting the QR Scanner option; in this way you can access the tools offered by the application.

Once the QR code has been scanned, the agent will be able to access the information linked to the asset and, in addition, will be able to perform the following operations:

  • Edit the asset
  • View the list of tickets for the asset and be able to access one of them.
  • Create a new ticket linked to the asset

Other uses for the QRTonic tool

Although QRTonic is a powerful tool for the effective management of your company’s IT assets, it can and should be used for other fields outside of IT as well.

Thus, this tool can be used by any company that requires an effective management of its assets, whatever they are: street furniture, billboards … even companies that manage different types of assets, both IT and any other, such as hospitals, who want to control computers, chairs, stretchers, or printers in their center; or facility services companies.
